Mythic (Story)

This seems to be the most basic type of aesthetic experience that I noticed in my research.  Young children – the Kindergarteners – were all able to watch and focus their attention on a number of different arts events.  These included plays, puppet shows, but also choir and dance performances.  Quite simply, they sat and watched.  They were, I assume, attending to “what happens next”.  They were curious and wanted to see either the narrative of the story unfold, or the dance/choir performance come to its completion.

The word “mythic” really refers to story, and this type of response I suggest is just attending to the “story” of an arts event.  It shows a level of engagement with the arts experience.
